Sandy Aird, managing director of Enhance Office Cleaning became a director of the cleaning industry trade association (CSSA) in 2013 shortly before its merger with the FMA and Asset Skills.
The newly merged body became known as the Building Futures Group which after only 2 years failed leaving an industry with 400,000 employees without any representation.
Happily the CSSA has been reborn in 2016 out of the ashes of the BFG and is gaining strength and members. Sandy Aird sits on the new board of the CSSA as well as on its Human Resources and Innovation & Technology Executives. Hot topics are the new government Apprenticeships and the Apprenticeship Levy which the government will be imposing on businesses from April 2017 and automation and its application to commercial cleaning – see Beam (https://suitabletech.com/beampro/) for an example of what might be the future.
