On Monday, 20th September, Enhance’s Managing Director, Sandy Aird plus nine other Members of the Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners were the first candidates to receive the Award of Chartered Practitioners in Environmental Cleaning. The Awards were presented by Deputy Master John Shonfeld and Major General Jeremy Rowan CB OBE, who is the Chairman of the Chartered Practitioners Register Committee
To be accepted as a Chartered Environmental Cleaner (C.Env.Cln) a thorough and detailed response had to be submitted followed by a personal presentation and interview. This will now pave the way for other members of the UK Cleaning Industry to apply to be registered on the Chartered Practitioner’s Register. A second cohort will be presented at the official launch at this year’s Cleaning Show at Excel, London in November.
The submission involved a comprehensive process covering the individual’s General Knowledge, Practical Skills, Communication, Leadership and Professional Commitment.
It has already taken many years to prepare the Award which will recognise the skill and expertise of industry members providing a recognised professional accreditation. Together with an Apprenticeship Scheme which is being developed, the Award will provide acknowledgement of a sustainable career path in cleaning with continuous cleaning industry recognition.
Previous two-time Master of the Cleaning Livery Barrie P Torbett, C.Env.Cln commented, “It’s up to us now to take this initiative forward and prove to the industry and the outside world that our vision has great value and should be one of the key foundations that underpins professionalism within our sector”.
The Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners aims to encourage and maintain high standards of practice and integrity while promoting and supporting education, training and research projects within the cleaning industry.
